Wallpaper files
(JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP formats): You must place these files in the
folder
my wallpapers
in your
NOOK
’s internal memory, not in subfolders.
•
Other files
: You can put other files on your
NOOK
, but your
NOOK
will not be able to
use them. You can only access them through USB. If you do put other files on your
NOOK
,
we recommend that you place them in top-level folders that you create, and ideally on a
supplemental microSD card, so that they do not reduce the space available for the My B&N
Library section of your library.
If you use subfolders to organize your digital reading and audio content, when your
NOOK
presents
the files to you, it flattens the hierarchy and presents a single list.
There are several places that you should not place files:
•
my B&N downloads
: Digital content that you purchased and downloaded from Barnes
& Noble.com or from your
NOOK
(in EPUB and PDB formats). The contents of this folder
are displayed in the My B&N Library section of your library. Do not organize these files into
subfolders.
You can copy files from the
my B&N downloads
folder, but if you place files in that
folder, your
NOOK
deletes them.
•
If you authorize your
NOOK
for use with Adobe Digital Editions, you will also see the folders
.adobe-digital-editions
and
Digital Editions
. These folders do not contain digital content.
Do not place files in these folders.
Do not delete the predefined directories.
USB Access and microSD Card Access
Your
NOOK
is designed for USB access to your files and folders in the internal memory and on a
supplemental microSD card if present. You can also access the files and folders on a supplemental
microSD card using a suitable card reader (not supplied with your
NOOK
). If you do use a card
reader, turn off your
NOOK
fully before removing the microSD card.
Managing Files
Transfer personal files to your
NOOK
, copying them to the appropriate folders. If you decide
you no longer want specific files on your
NOOK
, delete them (but keep a copy on your personal
computer).
