Explanation of symbols
The lightning symbol inside a triangle is used when there is a potential risk of per-
sonal injury, such as electric shock.
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions in this operating
manual which absolutely have to be observed.
The arrow symbol is used when specific tips and information on handling are provided.
Observe the operating instructions!
Safety instructions
Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to
the safety instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material damag-
es resulting from failure to observe the safety instructions and the information
in these operating instructions regarding the proper handling of the product.
Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/guarantee will be null and void.
Attention, important note!
Only people with relevant electro-technical knowledge and experience should
carry out the installation! *)
If it is not installed properly, you risk:
• your own life
• the life of the person using the electrical system.
If it is not installed properly, you risk severe damage to property, e.g., by fire.
You face the risk of personal liability for personal injury and material damage.
Contact an electrician!
*) Specialist knowledge required for the installation:
For the installation, the following specialist knowledge is required in particular:
• the applicable „5 safety rules“: Switch off power; secure against switching back
on; determine voltage-free status; earthing and short-circuiting; cover or fence off
nearby live parts
• Choose appropriate tools, meters and, if necessary, personal protective equip-
ment
• Evaluation of the measurement results
• Selection of the electrical installation material to ensure the shutdown conditions
• IP protection types
• Installation of the electrical installation material
• Type of mains supply network (TN system, IT system, TT system) and the con-
nection conditions that follow from them (classical earthing, protective earthing,
required additional measures, etc.)
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not connect
and install it yourself, but ask a qualified technician.
Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to
the safety instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material damag-
es resulting from failure to observe the safety instructions and the information
in these operating instructions regarding the proper handling of the product.

a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permissible
for safety and approval reasons. Never dismantle the product.
• Do not expose the product to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or strong
mechanical stress.
• The thermostat must not get damp or wet; it is intended for use in dry, indoor loca-
tions only. This does not apply for the capillary tube.
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around, since it could be-
come a dangerous plaything for children.
• On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the
industrial workers‘ society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed!
b) Assembly
• If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it your-
self, but entrust the work to a qualified electrician.
• The thermostat may be mounted and operated only in enclosed housings. Only
the shaft for the dial may lead outside. The provided dial (or another suitable dial)
must be mounted on the shaft.
• The specified safety distance between live components carrying mains voltage
(contacts or connections on the thermostat, etc.) and exposed parts of the en-
closure (the device in which the thermostat is installed) must be maintained at
all times.
• The device in which the thermostat is to be installed must be separated from the
mains voltage and all other cables/leads. Unplug the mains plug of the device
from the mains socket.
If the device does not have a mains plug, but is permanently connected to the
mains voltage, switch off the corresponding circuit breakers and also the appli-
ance leakage circuit interrupter so that the mains supply line is disconnected at all
poles from the mains voltage.
Secure it against unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a warning sign.
Check to make sure there is no voltage with a suitable measuring instrument (e.g.,
a digital multimeter).
• Capacitors in the device in which the thermostat is to be installed can remain
charged for a long time, even after the device is switched off and disconnected
from the mains voltage.
There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• Do not use the thermostat in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a danger of
explosion!
• The input power of the thermostat (see „Technical data“) must not be exceeded.
• When laying and securing the capillary tube, make sure that it is not kinked,
pinched or damaged in any other way. Otherwise, the thermostat is unusable;
loss of warranty!
• The capillary tube must not be shortened or cut off.
