1.0  Introduction 

1.1  Audience

This  manual  provides  information  related  to 

the  installation,  operation,  and  maintenance  of 

the  Medical  Vacuum  (MV)  Filter  Modules  manu

-

factured  by  BeaconMedæs.  Service  information 

contained  in  this  manual  is  intended  for  use  by 

technicians  or  personnel  qualified to  repair  and 

service medical equipment.

Definition of Statements

Statements in this manual preceded by following 

words are of special significance.

1.3  Product Description

The MV Filter Modules are designed to be a filter 

for  the  central  vacuum  system  in  hospitals  and 

surgery centers and are located in the plant room 

(or basement) of these facilities.

The filters are designed to protect the vacuum sys

-

tem from liquid, solid, or bacterial contamination. 

There is a transparent drain flask on the bottom 

of each filter that collects liquids and can be eas

-

ily removed for sterilization. The filters are placed 

before the vacuum system. By filtering bacterial 

contamination before the vacuum system, the fil

-

ters not only protect the vacuum system, but also 

the men and women who service the vacuum sys

-

tem. The moving air created by the vacuum sys

-

tem  eventually  gets  exhausted  into  the  outside 

air. The filters also protect people in the commu

-

nity where the exhaust gases are being released 

into the outside air.

1.4  Environmental Considerations

The MV Filter Modules are to be installed in accor

-

dance  with  requirements  stated  by  NFPA  99,  ISO 

7396-1, HTM 02-01, and all applicable local codes.

posal of the unavoidable rates of non-recycable 

materials. 

BeaconMedæs  products  for  the  most  part  con

sist of metallic materials that can be remelted in 

steelworks and smelting works and that is there

-

fore almost infinitely recyclable. The plastic use is 

labeled;  sorting  and  fractioning  of  the  materials 

for recycling in the future is foreseen.
