Using the SMTP server address is preferred over using the SMTP server name.
5. Type in the address of the SMTP server in that window.

7. Type in the name of the SMTP server in that window.
NOTE:
You need only the address or name, but not both.
8. Click in the
Electronic Address 1
window.
9. Type in the electronic address of the first person that needs to be notified
when an alarm occurs.
10. Repeat step 8 and step 9 until you have all the addresses that you need.
11. When you are finished setting up the electronic notification, click on the
Submit
button. The
Electronic Notification Changes Accepted
window dis-
plays (see figure 1-41 on page 1–92).
When you receive electronic mail from the MedPlus TotalAlert® Alarm
Network, it has the user in the
Email Address 1
position in the received mes-
sage’s “From” window.
In our example, the message would appear to come from
joe_service@hospital.com
. If you respond to electronic mail sent from the
alarm, the response is directed to the user in the
Email Address 1
position.
