Master Alarm
The Master Alarm displays messages when alarms or errors occur. It always dis-
plays alarms for source equipment. If the Network Communications Board is
installed in the Area Alarm, the Master Alarm displays Area Alarm conditions as
well.
When an alarm occurs the Master Alarm displays the device name when possible.
If the Master Alarm does not know the name of the device, it displays the
device’s serial number. Each device has a unique serial number, but each type of
device falls into a serial number range. Knowing the ranges is helpful for trou-
bleshooting alarm messages (see table 2-2 on page 2-9).

The factory-programmed alarm messages for the Master Alarm are used to help
identify and solve the problems that may occur with the facility’s gas system or
the MedPlus TotalAlert® Alarm Network. There are certain messages available
depending on the type of gas (see table 2-3 on page 2-10).
