6.5.1. Self
test
The self test mode confirms that the PLB is operational. A self test shall be performed every time the
PLB is taken on a trip.
It is highly recommended not to exceed more than one self test per month, on average, in order to
save battery power.
It is very important that the self test is performed only in the first 5 minutes of any hour.
•
Open the top cover,
•
Do not erect the flexible antenna,
•
Push and hold the sliding activation button in the TEST position until end of the self test.
To indicate that the self test is running the LED will indicate yellow flashes, the buzzer will remain si-
lent.
After a few seconds the PLB will indicate the result:
Self test successful:
LED Green, long flashes (5 seconds) and the buzzer will emit one long beep
synchronously.
Self Test Fail:
LED RED, and blinking, simultaneously the buzzer will beep shortly several times.
Release the sliding button, it will return the PLB to OFF position automatically (spring loaded).
Every time a self test is performed, check the battery replacement date.
MR109: Beacon configuration for SELF TEST.
Very Important Note: If the self-test indicates a failure, do not try to open or tamper with the PLB.
Send the PLB to an authorised Becker maintenance and repair center as soon as possible.
