6.5.2. Activation (Emergency Operation)
Do not activate the PLB unless in an emergency situation.
The PLB should be attached to the person, clothes, life vest or other survival equipment, prior to acti-
vation.
•
Open the top cover,
•
Carefully erect the flexible antenna by extracting it from the top cover, make sure that the an-
tenna is firmly handled during this operation,
•
Push strongly the sliding button to the ON position,
The PLB LED will indicate yellow flashes for 2 minutes. During this time the PLB will not transmit any
distress signals. The buzzer will beep simultaneously with the LED,
After 2 minutes, the PLB will start to transmit the distress signals, the LED will indicate Green flashes:
Long Green flash (2 seconds) for 406.028 MHz transmission (around every 50s) and a short green
flash (1second) every 5 seconds for 121.5 MHz. During the beacon transmission, the buzzer will emit
a long beep simultaneously with the long green LED flash, indicating the 406.028 MHz transmission,
and a short beep delayed about 2.5 seconds with the short green flash, which indicates the 121.5
MHz transmission,
