Connecting up external
antenna
To enable reception under adverse recep-
tion conditions, an external GPS antenna
can be connected (not included). For this
purpose, a closable connecting socket is
located on the rear of the housing. If no
external antenna is connected, this con-
nection must always be closed again.
>
Open the closure by pulling gently on
its upper surface.
>
Connect the external antenna using the
optionally available adapter.
Connecting USB storage me-
dia
You can connect a USB memory stick or
an external hard drive to your Traffic As-
sist.
Images, music or videos can then be ac-
cessed from these storage media.
The USB port for storage media is located
on the right side of the unit.
Docking station (optional)
The optionally available docking station
replaces the carrier plate of the Traffic As-
sist included in the scope of delivery.
The connections on the docking station
can be used to connect the Traffic Assist
to an audio system already installed in the
vehicle.
Telephone muting
You can connect your Traffic Assist to
your audio system using an optionally
available cable for telephone muting.
If the cable is correctly connected, your
Traffic Assist will mute the car radio dur-
ing navigation announcements.
Notes:
• Only external hard drives with a maxi-
mum power consumption of 500mA
may be operated. The hard drive can
only be operated when the Traffic As-
sist is powered via the mains adapter or
via the car power adapter.
• Please note that when using USB
memory sticks to play MP3 files or dis-
play images or videos, the battery ca-
pacity may be considerably reduced
(without external power supply).
Note:
You can see which connections on the
docking station have to be used on Page
19.
