Windrower rakes perform best when the clearance between the ground and the bottom
of the tines is set to approximately 1”
(see fig. 6)
. The conditions of the field will
ultimately determine how low you can set the tines to the ground. To achieve the best
results it is important to set the tines as high as possible in order to limit as much as
possible contact of the tines with the ground. This not only prolongs the tines life but will
also keep dust and dirt off the hay.
Adjust the working height of the tines by turning the height adjustment lever on top of
the gearbox. Turning lever clockwise will raise the tines, while turning the lever
counterclockwise will lower the tines closer to the ground
(see fig. 7)
.
After setting the tines to the desired height, make sure to level the machine front to back
by either adjusting the top link on three point rakes model DR0-308 or adjusting the
turnbuckle of pull type rakes model DRP-308. This will allow the unit to work correctly.
