1. Introduction
1�1 Application
• The BETEX KZZ spline puller is intended solely for removing insert splines with a width up
to 35 mm.
1�2 Warnings
• Do not use if the puller arms of the KZZ are damaged.
• Use with original parts supplied by the manufacturer.
1�3 Application areas
• Industrial environments.
1�4 Operation
• Operation of the BETEX KZZ spline puller is based on 2 clamping jaws that remove the
insert spline from the shaft using a cantilever motion. The KZZ pushes off against the
shaft on which the insert spline is mounted
1.5 Requirements for user/maintenance personnel

The user must have sufficient command of the language in which the manual is written to
enable him to fully understand the contents of this manual.
• The user must possess the relevant technical expertise. Furthermore, the user must be
conversant with how the BETEX KZZ works, and be able to accurately assess the potential
dangers of using the BETEX KZZ.
1.6 Personal protective equipment
• Always use personal protective equipment during operation or maintenance. Required
PPEs include safety shoes for fall hazards, safety glasses for splashes and/or projectiles.
These PPEs are not supplied with the product.
1�7 User workplace
• The workplace must always be clean, tidy and free of obstacles.

• Read these instructions thoroughly before operating the BETEX Key
extractor KZZ. Failure to follow these instructions can lead to personal
injury or damage to the pump. The safety instructions and operating
manual for this device can be found on the following pages.
• Inspect the KZZ carefully upon delivery. The carrier (not the supplier) is
responsible for any damage originating from shipment of the product.
2�1 Safety risks
• Airborne projectiles if the part to be dismounted is suddenly released or damaged.
2�2 Safety aids
• Use a safety blanket to reduce the risk of injury from airborne objects.
2�3 Safety measures
• Use the BETEX Key extractor KZZ only for dismounting and never for mounting the part
• Use personal protective equipment. See paragraph 1.6.
