Chapter 13 Water Softener Option
Model 213S OD / WA and WB Connections
Add a clean grade of softener salt at this time. DO NOT USE ROCK SALT.
•
For iron-bearing water, a salt that contains resin cleaning additives is recommended.
Using the chart below, determine the hardness that meets or exceeds your local water hardness.
•
Select the appropriate meter disc and install it in the top of the Main Tank. See the image below.
•
Compensated hardness is determined by multiplying the number of PPM of ferrous iron x 3 and adding to actual hardness.
•
Change the gray control disc (#9) to the white one that is supplied.
NOTE:
THE WHITE CONTROL DISC AND THE CORRECT METER DISC MUST BE
INSTALLED BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Open the inlet valve and allow the tanks to fill slowly with water. Water will run at the drain until the unit is full and pressurized.
With the unit in service and under pressure, allow the brine drum to fill with water until the brine valve shuts off.
After the unit is fully pressurized, purge the air from the lines by opening the soft water outlet.
•
When the installation is complete, plumbing lines must be chlorinated for sanitation. Common household bleach may be used.
The amount of bleach will vary based on plumbing size length and fixtures.
VERY IMPORTANT!
Where a brine drum overflow could cause damage, install a 1/2" I.D. overflow line on the barbed overflow fitting
on the drum and connected it to a drain. Make sure the drain is not higher than barbed fitting.
IDENTIFY AND FOLLOW ALL STATE
AND LOCAL CODES
.
Before leaving the installation, check the plumbing for any leaks.
