9.1.1
Cleaning the Transport Rollers
When scanning documents, the print color on the paper may cling or dirty the rubber material of
the transport rollers. In some cases, this may result in visible stripes on the documents scanned
and/or in the scanned images. To avoid this it is recommended that the transport rollers be
cleaned at regular intervals.
Note
It is necessary to be in the Setup mode to continue with the cleaning process. To get
to the Setup mode see section
4.1 Setup Mode
in this manual. Once Setup mode is
entered, the Touch Screen shows the Self Test 1 screen (
Figure 4.1
).
To clean the transport rollers, perform the following:
1. Enter the Setup mode of the scanner with the Self Test 1 screen displayed on the Touch
Screen (

2. Open the upper unit by pushing the Transport Release buttons (see section 1.4 Component
Identification,

3. Dampen the supplied Scanner Glass Cleaning Cloth with the Glass and Roller Cleaning
Fluid
4. Using the Self Test 1 screen displayed on the Touch Screen, press and hold one of the
arrows (forward or back) to start rotating the transport rollers
5. Press the Scanner Glass Cleaning Cloth firmly onto a transport roller, thus cleaning residue
from the rollers
Repeat this for each individual transport roller until all residue and/or dirt has been
reasonably removed
