11 System Recovery
The recovery function helps to set all device parameters to factory
defaults after a fatal system breakdown. The tool necessary to invoke
the recovery procedure is the Recover Key (S0086464). A single
Recover Key is delivered with every scanner and is labeled
“Recovery”.

Note
If you do not feel technically comfortable proceeding with the recovery, please contact
BBH Help Desk at 800-SCAN-495 to dispatch an authorized service provider to assist
you. This will be a billable service call as this is not part of the scanner’s warranty
provision. If you misplaced your Recovery Key, please contact
BBH Sales
at 1-800-
SCAN-494 or go to
www.bbhscanners.com
to purchase additional keys.
Before Recovering to Factory Defaults (IMPORTANT)
•
The recovery function resets the IP address to the factory default value of 192.168.1.50. It
may be necessary to use the crossover cable and change the network settings on the local
computer
•
Write down the values for the IP address, subnet mask and gateway of the device before
starting the recovery sequence (this information will be required after the Recovery process
is complete!) – refer to
Network Configuration Button
under 7.1.2.2 Base Settings Section in
this manual
•
After recovering to the factory default values, a firmware update must be executed (refer to
Update Scanner Firmware Button
in 7.1.2.3 Updates & Uploads Section in this manual).
Make sure an update file is available on the local computer
•
After recovering to the factory defaults, all adjustment procedures described in the previous
sections must be executed again (refer to
Adjustments Button
in 7.1.2.4 Adjustments &
Support Section in this manual)
