3.6.8 Line Removal
This image filter reconstructs or removes the ruled lines on images. This function can be used to improve
OCR results.

The lines are detected and removed.
Repair
First, the lines are detected and removed. Next, the text and/or
patterns superimposed on the removed lines are restored.
Reconstruct
First, the lines are detected and removed. Next, the text and/or
patterns superimposed on the removed lines are restored. Lastly,
straight lines are then redrawn at the same locations as the
removed lines.
Remove Form
First, the lines are detected and removed. Next, straight lines are
redrawn at the same locations. Lines which are considered to be
parts of ruled lines are joined to each other.

Enable
This setting enables the processing of the horizontal and vertical
lines.
Straight line
algorithm
This setting is for detecting straight lines. When used, the ability to
detect straight lines is improved. When this check box is selected,
the minimum length, maximum gap and curvature settings are
ignored.
Min Length
The minimum length to be detected is specified here. Inches,
millimeters or points can be used as the unit for the setting. Input
“mm” or “pt” after the number, respectively. A fraction such as 1/2
can also be specified as the number.
Max Gap
The gap between adjacent lines is specified here. Two lines with a
gap which is less than the one specified in between is treated as
one line. Inches, millimeters or points can be used as the unit for
the setting. Input “mm” or ‘pt” after the number, respectively. A
fraction such as 1/2 can also be specified as the number.
Curvature
A curvature to be treated as a straight line is specified here.
Note:
Depending on the images to be scanned, the Line Removal
function may not work properly.
