Congratulations on purchasing what we think is the finest removable
cartridge system on the market. Bering OptiPac drives are built for years
of reliable service. We're sure you'll agree as you begin to work with
your drive.
Features
The Bering OptiPac 2652MD subsystem is a 5.2GB Magneto-Optical
removable cartridge disk drive with a 1.3GB fixed disk compatible with
Hewlett-Packard 1000E, M, or F computers running RTE-IVB and RTE-
VI. In this manual we refer to the Bering OptiPac disk drive as
OptiPac
and all HP systems as
computer,
unless otherwise indicated.
Note:
The Bering OptiPac 2652MD magneto-optical cartridge drive supports
1.3GB and 2.6GB cartridges. However, 1.3GB cartridges are read-only.
These cartridges are available through Bering Technology’s sales
department.
Serving a wide range of storage needs, the OptiPac comes in the
following configuration with HP7906M emulation. This provides a plug
and play solution to the aging inventory of HP7906M disk drives.
•
2652MD – a 5.2GB Magneto-Optical cartridge drive with a 1.3GB fixed
disk
The OptiPac 2652MD subsystem uses a 5.25-inch removable cartridge
which can store 2.6GB (1.3GB/side). This means:
•
Each cartridge contains multiple rings, so physical removal is not
required to change to another ring. Each ring emulates a 10MB HP
7906M cartridge.
•
Your storage capacity is limited only by the number of cartridges you
use.
•
Your data is portable and secure. Just remove the cartridge from the
drive and take it with you, or store it in a safe place.
•
Your data cartridge is protected in a durable lexan case.
•
Your OptiPac can be used to back up the data on fixed disks.
The OptiPac provides fast, reliable storage that's always on hand. No
software or hardware modifications are required. The OptiPac supports
the AMIGO HP disk command sets.
The fixed disk and each cartridge is split into multiple 10.1 MB Rings,
which emulate a 10MB cartridge in the HP 7906M. The fixed disk has
128 (H0–H127) rings and each removable 2.6GB cartridge has rings to
128 (0–127), depending on the cartridge capacity and sector size.
