6.20 Sewing Flat Joining Seams
The flat joining seam is especially suitable for long-pile or thick materials such as terrycloth, felt or leather.
> Fit the Reverse Pattern Foot #1C.
> Tap «Practical Stitches».
> Select Stretch Overlock No. 13.
> Overlap the fabric edges.
> Sew along the fabric edge.
> To get a very flat, durable seam, make sure the needle stitches right over the top edge of the fabric into
the bottom fabric.
6.21 Sewing Basting Stitches
When sewing basting stitches, it is recommended to use a fine darning thread. This is easier to remove. The
basting stitch is suitable or sewing projects where a very long stitch length is required.
> Fit the Darning Foot #9 (optional accessory).
> Lower the feed dog.
> Tap «Practical Stitches».
> Select Manual Basting Stitch No. 30.
> Pin the fabric layers at a right angle to basting direction to prevent the layers from slipping.
> Hold the threads and sew 3 – 4 securing stitches at the beginning.
> Sew a stitch and pull the fabric back at the desired stitch length.
> Sew a stich.
> At the end sew 3 – 4 securing stitches.
