Place the UPS near the equipment it will protect. Do
not put the UPS near a source of heat. Do not block
the UPS’ ventilation holes. If your Fortress has sepa-
rate battery cabinets, place the cabinet(s) next to the
UPS, making sure you do not block ventilation holes
on the cabinet(s).

You will find the label shown inserted in this
manual. Write your UPS service representa-
tive’s telephone number and/or e-mail address
on the label. (See
label to your unit or place it near your unit. DO
NOT PLACE THE LABEL OVER THE
UPS’ VENTILATION HOLES. If your UPS
needs service or if you have UPS questions, this
label will provide the contact information you need.

To connect separate battery cabinets, follow these steps:
a. On the back of the UPS, a small metal plate is covering the battery cabinet con-
nector. (See the drawings on
to find the connector.) Remove the cover
plate by removing the Phillips screw in the upper left corner of the plate.
b. Connect the cable from the bat-
tery cabinet to the matching con-
nector on the back of the UPS as
shown (line up red to red, black
to black, etc.).
c. Units with two or more battery
cabinets: Remove the small
metal plate in the upper left corner of the first battery cabinet. Then, connect the
cable from the second battery cabinet to the first battery cabinet. Repeat this step
for each additional battery cabinet. Do not connect more than 5 LIXRBP-6614
cabinets and 2 LIXRUGK-6613 cabinets.

Detach the power cord from the
AS/400 and use it to plug in the
UPS as shown. (Do not use the
equipment cord(s) that came with
the UPS for this purpose.)
