4.3 Network setup

31

If all the steps have been done correctly, your LAN port will be properly configured with

the chosen IP address, and it will be able to connect to your network and the Internet (if
Internet access on the network is allowed).

W

Use the MAN port only to start

netsetup

and to configure the LAN port if necessary.

After completing all the steps in

netsetup

, unplug the LAN cable from the MAN port

and plug in to the LAN port.

N

Internet connection is crucial for the Setup Wizard configuration, as will be seen in next
chapter.

W

Bicom Systems highly recommends using the static IP address allocation, since DHCP
based one has a tendency to change in situations with power failures and similar.

In such situation, when the DHCP allocated IP changes, the system will stop to work,
and will need support intervention.

N

If you are an IT technician with advanced knowledge on systems administration, you
could use the C

ONSOLE

serial port on the back of the device to connect to the system

terminal. This way you do not need to wrangle with LAN port re-assignment on your
own computer. Just use the serial cable and connect to the device where baudrate is

115200.
