4. Operation
1. Fill the tank with max. 0.5 litres of premium grade paraffin. Leave 10 mm head space in the tank.
2. The wick takes about 1 hour to be saturated with paraffin. Never light the wick when it is dry.
3. Position the heating apparatus where it cannot be knocked over. If used in hanging mode, once
again secure against falling. Keep a minimum distance of 30 cm to flammable objects.
4. Light the wick when it is screwed down to bottom position.
5. Place the cap on the tank and turn clockwise.
6. Check the height of the flame after about 5 minutes and again after 15 minutes. If it should smoke,
use the adjusting wheel to adjust the height of the flame.
7. To extinguish the flame, turn the wick down completely and blow out the flame.
8. Remove excess soot from the wick, using a soft brush or cloth.
9. Provide adequate ventilation whilst it is burning. Otherwise, the flame may not get enough oxygen
and suffocate.
10. Extinguish the flame before topping up with paraffin. Fire hazard!
11. Store the paraffin in a clean and dry container.
12. When using new wicks or re-using wicks that have not been in use for a longer period, remove the
wick from the fuel element and leave to dry for 1 hour. When it is dry, reinsert the wick and
proceed as described in Point 2.
13. Ensure that the tank is always full enough. Otherwise the wick will dry out, producing smoke and
soot until the flame extinguishes.
14. When the apparatus is not in use, empty the tank and store the apparatus in a clean and dry
place.
