2.3
Vapour Disinfection Process
The vapour disinfection process consists of the following stages:
The HPV generator operates in a total recirculation mode when connected to the
chamber to be bio-decontaminated.
2.3.1
Conditioning Stage
During this period all the pipes and the Chamber are conditioned to a stable
temperature. This time also allows all the instruments to warm-up and stabilize.
Conditioning is a timed phase and at the end of this pre-programmed time the
cycle automatically progresses to the next phase.
2.3.2
Gassing Phase
During this phase Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour is supplied to the chamber via the
supply hose and distributed around the chamber via the 2 off stirrer fans.
As this is a closed loop process the returning air/vapour mixture from the
Chamber continues to pass through the gassing circuit for a pre-programmed
period. At the end of the pre-set time the cycle automatically progresses to the
next phase.
2.3.3
Dwell Phase
During this phase the Generator operates in the same manner as Gassing except
that Hydrogen Peroxide can be injected at a reduced rate or not at all for a
defined period. Both the injection rate and dwell period are user defined. At the
end of the pre-programmed time the cycle automatically progresses to the next
phase.
2.3.4
Aeration Phase
The Aeration phase (if the system has this functionality configured) involves the
catalytic conversion of the H

vapour present to a low level allowing safe entry
into the chamber. Aeration is provided either by a floor standing Aeration unit,
ceiling mounted aeration unit, buildings HVAC system or a combination of these.
