4.5.1. Adjustments for the SL model
The Protego SL wheelchair offers you additional adjustment options
for the seat depth and seat height. These adjustments require the gas
pressure spring to be moved, which is why they should only be carried
out by specialists
•
The gas pressure spring contains pressurized gas and it can explode
when exposed to heat.
•
Keep out of the reach of children.
•
Prior to use, read the identification label on the gas pressure spring.
•
Store in a well-ventilated area and protect from sunlight.
•
Damaged gas pressure springs can release low levels of nitrogen,
which displace oxygen in the air and can lead to suffocation.
When working on the underside of the wheelchair, we recommend that
you remove all of the attachment parts and lie the wheelchair on its
side. Due to the product‘s weight, the work must be carried out by two
trained technicians
.
Seat depth (only for the SL model)
There are three settings for adjusting the seat depth of the Protego SL
model.
Loosen the screws for the gas pressure spring located underneath the
seat (Fig. 18) and on the frame of the the seat (Fig. 19). Move the
backrest forwards or backwards to the desired position and screw the
backrest to the seat frame again.
Place the gas pressure spring in the corresponding hole underneath the
seat and tighten the screw.
Then check that the screw fitting is tight and that the back angle ad-
justment functions properly.
