HELPFUL HINTS
• Although the rice measure holds about 5 ounces of uncooked rice; the cooked rice is given
in 8 ounce cup measures.
• Kosher salt has no impurities and dissolves faster than table salt. If using kosher salt you
may find you want to add a little more than if using table salt. Use about 3/4 tsp. kosher
salt to each cup of uncooked rice.
• White rice should be kept in an airtight container in a cool dark place.
• Brown rice has a limited shelf life; store it for no more than a month before using.
• Try using broth, stock or reconstituted bouillon in place of water for additional flavor. If
you do, no additional salt may be necessary.
TO USE STEAMER BASKET
Refer to VEGETABLE COOKING CHART for suggestions on cooking time and seasonings.
1. Pour about 1 1/2 cups of cold tap water into cooking bowl using standard liquid measuring
cup. Add seasoning, if desired.
2. Place vegetables or other food in the steamer basket.
3. Place steamer basket on top of cooking bowl.
Note:
Before placing cooking bowl into rice cooker, be sure the heating plate and outside
surface of the cooking bowl are clean and dry. Make sure no food falls into the rice cooker.
4. Close the lid. Press down until you hear a click.
Note:
Always keep the lid closed on the rice cooker while cooking.
Important: As food cooks, steam will escape through the steam vent. Make
sure steam vent faces away from cabinets and walls.
Caution: Do not place hand over steam vent while rice is cooking; the hot
steam may burn.
5. Plug cord into standard electrical outlet. The WARM indicator light comes on.
6. Press down the Cook/Warm switch. The COOK indicator light comes on and cooking
begins.
Note:
When heating prepared foods, the Cook/Warm switch and COOK indicator light are

these foods unattended.
7. Begin checking vegetables or food after about 8 minutes.
