Safety instructions

•  Warning! When using mains-powered appliances, basic 

safety precautions, including the following, should always be 

followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, personal 

injury and material damage.

•  Read all of this manual carefully before using the appliance.

•  The intended use is described in this manual. The use of any 

accessory or attachment or the performance of any 

operation with this appliance other than those recommended 

in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal 

injury.

•  Retain this manual for future reference.

•  Always route the cord carefully so it does not hang over the 

edge of a worktop and cannot be caught accidentally or 

tripped over.

•  Never operate an appliance directly below the socket-outlet 

it is connected to.

•  If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the 

manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons 

in order to avoid a hazard.

•  Use the blender according to this instruction, any misuse 

may cause electric shock or other hazards.

Intended use

Your BLACK+DECKER™ PB120-B5 & PB100-B5 blender has 

been designed for blending, mixing and crushing of solid and 

liquid food and beverage ingredients. This product is intended for 

household use only.
This appliance is not to be used in:
•  Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working 

environments;

•  Farm houses;
•  By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type 

environments;

•  Bed and breakfast type environments;

Using your appliance

•  Always take care when using the appliance.
•  Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect the plug from 

the socket. Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil 

and sharp edges.

•  Do not place the appliance on or near heat sources or in a 

heated oven.

•  Avoid spilling water on the Power Base.
•  Do not use the appliance near flammable or explosive 

materials.

•  Do not use the appliance outdoors.
•  Operate the appliance only with dry hands.
•  If the power supply cord is damaged during use, disconnect 

the appliance from the power supply immediately. Do not 

touch the power supply cord before disconnecting from the 

power supply.

•  Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in 

use, before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning.

•  This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of 

an external timer or separate remote-control system.

•  The outer surface of the blender may become hot when in 

use.

•  Allow moving parts to come to a stop before removing any 

cover.

•  Allow moving parts to come to a stop before approaching.

•  Be careful if hot liquid is poured into the food processor or 

blender as it can be ejected out of the appliance due to a 

sudden steaming.

•  The cutting blades are extremely sharp. Handle with care. 

Always wait until the blades have completely stopped 

rotating before accessing the blades. Never touch any 

moving parts. 

•  Never switch the appliance on until all parts are completely 

and correct installed. Before removing any parts or opening 

the top cover switch the appliance off and disconnect from 

the mains.

•  Never overfill the bowls. Pay attention to the marking on the 

bowls.

•  Never remove the blender from the motor unit before the 

blades have stopped rotating.  

•  Remove the jar from machine before opening the lid.
•  Use and store the appliance outside the reach of children.
•  Before each use check the appliance for any damage which 

could impair the safety of the appliance.  If the appliance 

has been subject to an excessive strain  (e.g. it has fallen on 

the floor) then damages might not be visible from the 

outside. In this case don’t use the appliance and send it for 

a safety check to the repair center. If the supply cord is 

damaged it must be replaced by the authorized service 

centre to avoid any dangers.

•  Ensure that the motor unit, the supply cord or the mains plug 

are not getting wet. Don’t use the appliance when parts are 

wet. Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

•  Ensure that neither the motor unit nor the supply cord are 

subject to external impact of heat. Never let the supply cord 

touch hot surfaces and never let it hang over the table edge 

or similar places.

•  Never pull the supply cord. Always grab the mains plug for 

disconnecting the appliance from the mains.

•  This appliance is designed for household use and not for 

professional use. Never use the appliance for any other 

purposes than described in this manual.
