•
Avoid using the handheld for long messages. The Reply
with Text option also makes your messages longer,
draining the battery faster.
•
Avoid using the backlighting feature because it requires a
lot of power.
•
Turn off your handheld’s radio when receiving your mail
is not urgent, or if you are out of coverage range. This can
save a large amount of your battery’s power.
•
If you are sending the same message to more than one
person, use multiple recipients in one message rather than
transmitting the same message more than once. See
page 49 for more information on sending a message to
multiple recipients.
What should I do if my handheld does not turn on?
•
Make sure the AA battery is properly installed or try
inserting a new battery. You may have to wait for the AA
battery to charge the internal battery.
•
If the handheld does not turn on after replacing the
battery, reset the handheld. See the ‘Resetting the
handheld’ section in this chapter for information on
resetting the handheld.

What should I do if I won’t be using my handheld for a short
period of time?
•
If you expect that you will not be using your handheld for
a short period of time (two weeks or less), you should turn
the handheld off. In the Home screen, scroll to the POWER
OFF icon and click.
•
When you want to turn the handheld back on, simply click
the trackwheel.
