Machine Specific Safety Instructions
Do not operate the tool until you have read and understand this Instruction Manual. Learn the tool’s applications and limitations,
as well as the specific potential hazards related to this tool. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious
injury.
•
The Blaupunkt Garden Shredder is designed primarily to reduce organic material (branches, hedges, thin timber, etc.) to
smaller pieces and is used in a stationary position by an operator standing on the ground.
•
This machine is with fitted with a braking function, which brakes the cutting tool within a few seconds when the machine is
switched off; or the locking screw is loosened; If the mains cable is removed and if there are any mains faults. This function has
been developed as protection against contact with the cutting tool during intentional or unexpected opening of the housing.
•
The appliance is designed for overload protection by circuit breaker or switch or circuit protection device. If it is overloaded
for a moment, the excess current release switches the motor off automatically.
•
Safety, performance and dependability have been given top priority in the design of this appliance, making it easy to
maintain and operate.
•
When starting up or switching on the motor, the feeding device and discharge chute shall be in the closed position.
•
Do not force the appliance. It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended. Frequent overload may
cause motor damage or fire.
•
Use the shredder only for regular organic garden waste. Never feed metal parts, glass, stones, ceramics, plastics, thicker
branches, hard wood or thick wood plates, etc.
•
Avoid wearing clothing that is loose fitting or that has hanging cords or ties.
•
Wear a hat or net to contain long hair.
•
Operate the appliance in open space (e.g. not close to a wall or other fixed object) and only on a level and firm base.
•
Do not operate the appliance on a paved or gravel surface where ejected material could cause injury.
•
Before starting the appliance, check that all screws, nuts and other fasteners are properly secured, and that guards and
screens are in place.
•
Wear face mask when the dust is substantive, such as shredding dry branches, hedges with leaves.
•
The garden shredder is equipped with an integrated overload protector that automatically activates in the case of an
overload or if the cutting blade is blocked. After the reason for the overload or blockage has been removed and the device
has sufficiently cooled down, the shredder will be ready for operation again. Push the reset button to activate this protection
feature again. Only then switch on the device using the mains switch.
•
If the motor stops because of overload or insufficient voltage, switch off the motor and leave it to cool for 3 to 5 minutes. Then
press the reset button 4 and switch the appliance back on again.
•
The air vents on the appliance must never be covered by the collection bag.
•
The plunger is used to pilot materials to the blades in the feeding chamber, especially when shredding thin twigs, branches
and vegetables which can not be contacted and cut by the blades.
•
WARNING: Never enter your hands into the opening of the machine. Only use the plunger provided.
•
Always keep your machine clean after each use. Do not use any aggressive agents or solvents.
•
Make sure no water is allowed to enter the appliance.
•
While working with the garden shredder you should wear sensible clothing. This consists of close fitting work clothes, firm
gloves and shoes with a well-gripping sole. You should also wear safety goggles and hearing protection!
