Unfasten Buckle 

(Fig. A)

1. Unfasten all of the buckle ends by pushing the gray 

buttons on each side of the buckle.  

 If this is the first time the brace is applied, the brace 

should be at its lowest setting. (Fig. B)

Apply the Brace

2. Apply the brace with the patient in a seated position 

and the leg bent at 45°. 

Medial  Compartment  OA:  Position  the  hinge  on  the 

INSIDE of the leg and in line with the top of the knee 

cap.

Lateral  Compartment  OA:  Position  the  hinge  on  the 

OUTSIDE  of  the  leg  and  in  line  with  the  top  of  the 

knee cap. 

Fasten Upper Calf Strap

3. Apply the upper calf strap by wrapping the strap 

behind the calf muscle and around to the front of the 

shell to engage the buckle.  

Adjust the length of the strap using the hook and pile 

fastener at the buckle end of the strap.

5. Fasten Lower Thigh Strap

Wrap  the  lower  thigh  strap  from  the  front  of  the 

thigh around the back of the leg and engage buckle 

on the opposite side of the shell.  

Adjust the length of the strap using the fastener at 

the buckle end of the strap.  

6.  Fasten Upper Thigh Strap

Wrap the upper thigh strap around the back of the leg 

to engage the buckle.  

Adjust the strap using the fastener at the buckle end 

of the strap.

Fasten Lower Calf Strap

4. Apply the lower calf strap in the same manner.
