6 Installation
This section contains important information concerning installation of the AIRSKIN® Safetyflange.
6.1 Unpacking the AIRSKIN® Safetyflange
When the AIRSKIN® Safetyflange is delivered, it is packed in a box with corresponding identification and a general
description. Upon receipt, the packaging should be examined for any visible damage such as dents and tears
which should (if necessary) be reported to the delivery company. The installation manual should be used to check
that the contents are complete, and any possible discrepancies should be reported to Blue Danube Robotics. The
AIRSKIN® Safetyflange should be stored within its packaging on a flat, firm surface with air humidity of

Please ensure eco-friendly disposal of the packaging materials (box and contents).
6.2 Preparation for installation
The robot on which an AIRSKIN® Safetyflange is to be installed must be adequately fixed in place. The sys-
tem/robot must be switched off during installation, and all the brakes must be enabled.
• Location: stable surface/floor
• Surface for installation: cleaned surfaces of the system/robot
• Air: clean, frost-free, as little moisture as possible

• Before you begin, secure any loose or swivelling parts of the system on which AIRSKIN® is to be installed
• Use appropriate lifting equipment (weight according to datasheet)
6.3 Installation
Danger due to moving parts in the system/robot
Moving machine parts as well as power units, tools, workpieces, etc. which are freely
accessible can constitute hazards. For example, they include penetrating points, cut-
ting/piercing points, crushing points, shearing/cutting points, impact/trapping points, cut-
ting points, shearing/crushing points, and pinch points.
The robot on which an AIRSKIN® Safetyflange is to be installed must be firmly fixed in place. The robot must be
switched off during installation,and all the brakes must be enabled. Prior to installation, ensure that the AIRSKIN®
Safetyflange is correctly configured for your particular application. When delivered, the Safetyflange is preconfig-
