TOP BURNER REMOVAL (AND/OR IGNITER)
The following procedure is required to replace any top burner assembly or igniter that is needed to ignite the burner
assembly requiring service.
1. Shut off power to the product.
2. Shut off gas to the product.
3. Remove all top section components associated with the burners or igniter that is in question of replacing.
4. Burners and igniter removal vary on the type of burner that is being replaced. Below is a guide on how the igniter
is tied into the burner, and if the removal of a securing screw is required to remove burner assembly from top
section.
a. Open top Burner/Igniter:
Removal of igniter wire is required, with the igniter itself being removed by removing a securing screw
located on the bottom of the burner. No securing screw needs to be removed to pull burners from the
product. A back and upward motion is required to remove the front and rear burners.
b. Griddle Burner/Igniter:
Removal of an igniter wire is not required to remove griddle char-broiler burner from the griddle char-
broiler box. Although a securing screw located in the back of the burner needs to be removed, in order to
remove burner from product. To do so, a back and upward motion, is required. Replacing the igniter
requires the griddle burner box to be removed, along with the igniter cover patch located on the front of
the burner box. This will then allow the igniter wires to be pulled forward into the burner box and
disconnected.
c. Char-broiler /Igniter:
(Reference above Griddle Burner/Igniter procedure)
5. Upon completing the service required to replace either the
burner or the igniter re-install top section components associated with the repair service being done.
6. Retest top section components to assure burner assemblies and igniter assemblies are properly located to insure
there is no delayed ignition at the burner.
