TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Problem Probable
Cause
Correction
No operation in bake or
broil. Position of thermostat
setting.
No voltage to thermostat.
Check for 120VAC at the thermostat terminals BA to
Neutral. If no voltage is present check for broken
wiring. See schematic attached.
No operation in bake. Broil
operates normally, bake
igniter does not glow red.
a) Defective
thermostat
contacts
b) Defective
igniter
c) Open heater coil in gas
valve
a) Check thermostat contacts for continuity or check
for 120VAC at thermostat contact BA to neutral. If
no voltage is present or open contacts indicated,
replace the thermostat. If voltage is present or
contacts are closed, check for broken wiring
between thermostat and igniter. Proceed to next
step.
b) Check igniter for continuity. If no continuity is
indicated or if igniter does not glow when tested,
replace the igniter. If the igniter glows when tested
or indicates continuity, check for broken wiring
between the igniter and gas valve. Proceed to next
step.
c) Check gas valve heater coil for continuity. If heater
coil is open replace the gas valve. If continuity is
indicated, check for broken wiring between the gas
valve and thermostat.
No broil operation. Bake
operates normally, broil
igniter does not glow red.
a) Defective
igniter
b) Defective
igniter
c) Open heater
a) Check thermostat contacts for continuity or check
for 120VAC at thermostat contact BR to neutral. If
no voltage is present or open contacts indicated,
replace the thermostat. If voltage is present or
contacts are closed, check for broken wiring
between thermostat and igniter. Proceed to next
step.
b) Check igniter for continuity. If no continuity is
indicated or if igniter does not glow when tested,
replace the igniter. If the igniter glows when tested
or indicates continuity, check for broken wiring
between the igniter and gas valve. Proceed to next
step.
c) Check gas valve heater coil for continuity. If heater
coil is open replace the gas valve. If continuity is
indicated, check for broken wiring between the gas
valve and thermostat.
No gas flow to burner,
igniter glows red.
•
Intermittent burner
flame
•
Lighting on only one
side of burner
•
Gas odors detected
•
Lowering average
temperature of oven
a) Defective
igniter
b) Gas pressure too low
a) Check the igniter current draw. If less than 3.2
amps, replace the igniter.
b) Check for correct gas pressure. Natural pressure
should be 5”WCP and LP pressure should be 10”
WCP.
Gas flows to bake/broil
burner but does not light
a) Igniter position too far from
burner
b) Dirt or oil grease in orifice
c) Insufficient gas pressure
d) Gas
supply
a) Re-position igniter closer to the bake/broil burner.
b) Clean the orifice
c) Check for correct gas pressure. Pressure should be
5” WCP for natural and 10” WCP for LP.
d) Check oven shut-off valve located on the manifold
