4.14 Changing the engine oil fil-
ter
!
Caution
Disassemble the engine oil filter after draining
the engine oil.

Unscrew the plug and pull the engine oil filter
out of the housing (Fig. 46) .
l
Wipe the plug clean and blow it out with com-
pressed air.
l
Insert the new filter cartridge with the recess
pointing downwards.
l
Check the O-ring, replace if necessary.
l
Apply some oil to the thread and the O-ring of
the plug.
l
Push the engine oil filter into the housing and
tighten the plug.
l
After filling in engine oil perform a short test
run and check for leaks, if necessary retighten
the fastening screw.
4.15 Checking, adjusting the
valve clearance

Note
Check and adjust only when the engine is cold (20
+/- 10 °C).
The gasket for the cylinder head cover must be
generally renewed.

Clean the area around the cylinder head.

Unscrew the cylinder head cover and take it off
with the gasket (Fig. 47) .
l
Turn the engine crankshaft in sense of rotation
until compression resistance can be felt.
