Power Supply Requirement and Connection
This chapter describes the power supply requirement for all the electronics within each
Access Easy Controller enclosure and its connection.
The design of the CPU Card is such that it can be powered externally through the Power Sup-
ply Card by either one of the following means: -
X
An 18VAC input power source or
X
A 15VDC +/- 1% input power source.
There are 2 variations of input power options for all Access Easy Controllers, either requiring
an 18VAC or 15VDC input. UL Listed system will employ only the 18VAC input power, CE
Listed system will employ only the 15VDC input power.
In order to provide uninterrupted power source to the CPU Card and Reader Boards during a
supply outage, a battery charging circuit is incorporated in the Power Supply Card to charge
the backup rechargeable battery.
When input power is present, the backup battery is trickle charged.
20.1
Current Consumption
The table shows the current consumption of the various types of Cards.
The indicated value for Reader Board and I/O Card is the total current consumption of all acti-
vated relays.
!
WARNING!
A 12VDC power supply is inadequate and will not be sufficient to charge the backup battery,
although the Access Easy Controller system may work.
i
NOTICE!
During battery backup, the 12V supply output from the power supply card is not guaranteed.
It is because the voltage drop across the diodes will cause the 12V output to drop to 9-10V
Description.
Average Current consumption (DC mA)
CPU Card
1.35 A @ 5VDC
4 Reader Board
140 mA @ 15VDC
