Troubleshooting Network Connectivity Problems
This section offers troubleshooting guidance for those situations when you are unable to com-
municate with the Access Easy Controller over the customer's network.
Be sure to follow the steps in order when diagnosing the cause of the connectivity problem.
Do not skip any steps.
Step 1 - Confirm the controller's compatibility with the customer's network
Procedure:
Review the Access Easy Controller application checklist to confirm the controller's compatibil-
ity with the customer's network. The application checklist can be found in Chapter 4 of this
manual.
Decision:
Can a "Yes" answer be confirmed for all questions in the application checklist?
Yes - Proceed to step 2.
No - Access Easy Controller will not work in your application. Have the customer makes cor-
rections as suggested in the application checklist, then re-start this procedure. If the cus-
tomer cannot make the suggested corrections, then an alternative access control solution
should be suggested.
Step 2 - Confirm that the basic Access Easy Controller is operating correctly
Procedure:
1.
Observe LED 1, LED 2 and LED 3 located in the lower right corner of the Secure/Commu-
nication card. These LEDs should be continuously flashing in an alternating pattern.
2.
Observe DC Power LED 13 on all 4-reader and/or 8-Input/Output card boards installed in
the controller. This LED is located toward the bottom right of each card. The LED should
be lit steady of all cards.
3.
Observe LED 10 and LED 12 on all 4-reader boards installed in the controller. Both LED's
should be blinking at a regular rate on all 4-reader boards.
4.
Observe the LED 10 and LED 11 located at the lower left of the Secure/Communication
card. Both LED's should be flickering.
5.
Observer the Tx and Rx LED on the Convertor card. These LEDs should be flickering.
6.
Observe the CPU LED on the Convertor card. This LED should be blinking in a steady
rate.
7.
Observe the Green LED on the RJ45 jack on the CPU Card. It should be lit steady.
8.
Observe the Amber LED on the RJ45 jack on the CPU Card. It should be flickering
momentarily.
