Replacing the vacuum pump
Warning - Danger of burns
Hot surface of vacuum pump can result in severe
burns to the hands.
Allow vacuum pump to cool down.
Wear protective gloves.
Procedure:
1. Turn off ACS 500 at master switch.
2. Remove mains connector.
3. Remove cold chamber cover.
4. Close stop cocks and shut-off valves on the refrigerant
flask.
5. Place collecting tank for used oil underneath the bottom
opening of the trolley.

6. Close oil drain screw (2) on vacuum pump and
completely drain the oil.
Dispose of used oil at appropriate disposal points.
7. Close oil drain screw (2) on vacuum pump.

8. Remove connection box cover (5) on vacuum pump.
9. Open lead connection (6).
10. Pull connecting lead (7) and remove from lead
connection (6).
11. Open union nut on hose line (3).
12. Connect hose line (3).

13. Screw screw-in socket (4).

14. Remove hexagon bolts (8).
15. Remove vacuum pump.
16. Install new vacuum pump and secure.
17. Remove coarse pipe sealant residue on screw-in socket
thread (4) and clean with a suitable cleaning medium
(e. g. brake cleaner).
18. Apply a thin layer of pipe sealant to the screw-in socket
thread (4).
19. Screw screw-in socket (4) into the vacuum pump pipe
union.
20. Connect hose line (3).
21. Remove vacuum pump connection box cover.
22. Pull connecting lead 9 7) through the lead connection.
23. Connect connecting lead with engine lead in line with
the following terminal diagram:

Engine lead
GN/YE lead
GN/YE lead
BU lead
BK lead
BN lead
RD lead
24. Tighten lead connection.
25. Close connection box.
26. Unscrew plug screw (1) for oil filling.
27. Fill vacuum pump oil in quantity specified in ACS 500
operating instructions.
28. Close oil filling opening with plug screw.
29. Open stop cocks and shut-off valves on the refrigerant
flask.
30. Attach cold chamber cover.
