Preparations for A/C service
i
Read the vehicle documentation before service.
!
The ACS 651/751 is intended to be used only with
R134a. Before the A/C service, check the vehicle
documentation for the type of refrigerant used in the
vehicle A/C system.
!
The ACS 651/751 cannot be used for servicing a
vehicle A/C system that has been repaired with a
chemical sealant. The sealant could damage the
ACS 651/751 and the vehicle A/C system. Non-com-
pliance invalidates the warranty.
Caution - Risk of frostbite!
If refrigerant escapes, there is a risk of
frostbite to the hands and body
.
¶
Ensure that the HP and LP hoses are not
damaged.
¶
Ensure that the quick couplers are tightly
fixed to the hoses.
!
Do not attempt to turn off the valves on the R134a
cylinder when the ACS 651/751 is in operation.
Before servicing the vehicle A/C system, carry out the
following preparatory procedure:
1.
Move the ACS 651/751 to a flat vibration-free sur-
face close to the vehicle.
2.
Apply the brakes to prevent the ACS 651/751 from
rolling away.
Caution!
Hot engine parts can cause severe burns to
the hands.
¶
Allow the engine to cool down before
work.
¶
Wear protective gloves.
i
Refer to the recommendations of the vehicle manu-
facturer for servicing vehicles with only an LP port.
!
Do not use any tools to tighten the couplers.
3.
Connect the power cable to the mains supply.
4.
Turn on the master switch.
6.5
Automatic mode
In the automatic mode, all phases are automatically
executed in sequence. The service parameters (vacuum
creation time, recharge quantity and oil type) are listed
in the vehicle documentation or in the vehicle-specific
repair manual.
The service can be carried out in any of the following
ways:
R
Selecting the vehicle code from the ACS 651/751
database
R
Selecting the vehicle from the list of 10 vehicles
serviced previously
R
Setting custom parameters
6.5.1
Selecting the vehicle from the database
The ACS 651/751 has a database, in which known ve-
hicle types, the model, year and R134a quantity are
stored under a 4-digit code number. This code number
stores the service parameters for the vehicle. The ser-
vice phases are executed automatically after selecting
the vehicle from the database.
!
Use only new oil to replace the amount removed
during the recovery process. Used oil should be
discarded as per applicable federal, state and local
requirements.
