6.5.14 Fork rebound damping
Only applies to pedelecs with this equipment
Rebound damping in the suspension fork and the
rear frame damper determines the speed at which
the rear frame damper rebounds after being
subjected to load. Rebound damping controls the
suspension fork extension and rebound speed,
which, in turn, has an impact on traction and
control.
Rebound damping can be adjusted to body
weight, spring stiffness, deflection, the terrain and
the rider's preferences.
If the air pressure or spring stiffness increases,
the extension and rebound speeds also increase.
Rebound damping needs to be increased to
achieve an optimal setting if the air pressure or
spring stiffness are increased.
The damper rebounds at a controlled speed if the
fork is optimally adjusted. The wheel stays in
contact with the ground when passing over bumps
(blue line).
The fork head, handlebars and body follow terrain
(green line) when riding over bumps. The
suspension motion is predictable and controlled.
