supports alternating between three different modes and therefore
three different measurement displays. Mode selection supports adapt-
ing the unit to different wall materials and to ignore insignificant objects
(e.g. hole structures in brickwork). The current setting (“mode S”,
“mode 1” or “mode 2”) is shown on the display.
mode S
The standard setting after switching the unit on is suitable for most ap-
plications. Objects up to a depth of 6 cm are displayed. Hollow space
structures of brickwork or empty plastic pipes with a diameter of less
than 2.5 cm are possibly not displayed. Exit this mode only when deep-
er drilling is necessary (change to “mode 1”) or when very many or large
objects are displayed indicating a light construction wall (change to
“mode 2”).
mode 1
“mode 1” is suitable for measurements in consistent wall materials (e.g.
concrete). Objects (including hollow spaces) up to a depth of 10 cm are
displayed.
mode 2
“mode 2” is suitable for measurement in materials with several layers on
top of each other (e.g. light construction, flooring) or many hollow spac-
es (e.g. gypsum plaster board). Electric wiring, metals and water-filled
pipes are displayed primarily up to depth of 4 cm, but not wood and
large hollow spaces. Measuring these materials with “mode S” or
“mode 1” would display too many insignificant objects, e.g. hollow
spaces in light construction walls.
