Contamination can reduce the flow rate of the fans and lead to thermal over‐
load of the energy storage devices.
When the energy storage devices are operated in a dirty environment, the
availability of the system is increased by cleaning the fans and cooling fins at
regular intervals.
When designing the machine, consider the accessibility of the energy storage
device and fan for maintenance work.
Special instructions for maintenance and troubleshooting can be found in
chapter 12.4.4 "Fan " on page 61
.

Water cooling (IC3W7)
BA1N energy storage devices can be delivered in the versions force-ventila‐
ted and water-cooled. The cooling circuit in the energy storage device is
made of stainless steel. The designation is done via the feature cooling mode
"L" within the type code.
Cooling system
The power loss P
V
transformed to heat is dissipated using the coolant. Exter‐
nal cooling units are necessary to operate water-cooled energy storage devi‐
ces.
Cooling units do not belong to the scope of delivery of Bosch
Rexroth and must therefore be dimensioned and provided by the
customer.
Install systems in the cooling circuit for monitoring flow, pressure
and temperature.
Basically, Bosch Rexroth does not claim any warranty for third-
party products.

Tab. 9-6:
Manufacturers of cooling units
The cooling unit must be able to dissipate heat of the energy storage devices
at any time. In the case of several energy storage devices operating on one
cooling circuit, this is valid for the sum of each power loss. The necessary
coolant pressure must be provided for maximum volume current.
The necessary cooling and pump performance is calculated of the
sum of connected energy storage devices or heat input, the
specified minimum flow and pressure loss. The dimensioning of
the cooling system is in the responsibility of the machine manu‐
facturer. Bosch Rexroth recommends to design the cooling cir‐
cuits as closed system.
The occurring electro-chemical processes within the cooling system must be
minimized via selection of the materials. Do not combine different materials,
like copper, brass, iron, zinc and halogenated plastics (e.g. tubes and sealing
made of PVC).
Fix coolant ducts and check for their tightness in regular intervals.
