5 Operating
Instructions
5.1 Introduction
The design of IndraDyn A asynchronous motors according to ATEX
(guideline 94/9/EG) is a further development of the Rexroth IndraDyn A
motor series.
The number 6 on the 18
th
position of the type code signifies an explosion-
protected motor. This applies to the following motors:

These operating instructions provide special notes regarding selection,
commissioning, operation, maintenance, and dismantling of the EX
design of IndraDyn A motors.
The motors may be commissioned in an explosive environment only if,
•
all the following notes regarding commissioning and application of the
project planning manual DOK-MOTOR*-MAD/MAF****-PRxx-xx-P
have been understood and put into practice.
•
the overall system, consisting of motor, scavenging equipment,
protective devices, and motor cooling equipment is inspected,
accepted and logged according to the requirements of the relevant
standards.
Note:
These operating instructions form a part of the product and
must be kept by the user of motors over the entire operation
and lifetime of the product. If the product is passed on or sold,
these instructions must also be passed on to each new owner
or user.

Notes Regarding Safety
The persons responsible for the safety of persons participating in work or
affected by it, must satisfy the national standards.
All persons working on, with or in the vicinity of an electrical system must
be informed of the relevant safety requirements, safety guidelines and
internal instructions (source: EN 50110-1:2004)
Taking the correspondent national regulations into account, EX motors
may be commissioned only by a skilled electrician.
In order to indicate dangers that can occur especially during the operation
of EX motors, the following warning symbols and key words are used in
these operating instructions. The key words describe the danger classes.
The danger class identifies the risk when the safety information is not
observed. In addition to the notes regarding safety listed here, also
observe the general notes regarding safety of the design instructions for
Rexroth IndraDyn A motors.
