1.2 Safety instructions
Qualified personnel
Responsibilities for the safety of persons involved in or affected by work must
comply with national legislation.
All persons working on, with or in the vicinity of an electrical system must be in-
formed of the relevant safety requirements, safety guidelines and internal in-
structions (source: EN 50110-1).
Taking the correspondent national regulations into account, ATEX motors may be
commissioned only by a skilled and competent electrician for explosion-protec-
tion.
In terms of this application documentation, qualified persons are those persons
who are familiar with the installation, mounting, commissioning and operation of
the components of the electric drive and control system, as well as with the haz-
ards this implies, and who possess the qualifications their work requires. To
comply with these qualifications, it is necessary, among other things,
1) to be trained, instructed or authorized to switch electric circuits and devices
safely on and off, to ground them and to mark them
2) to be trained or instructed to maintain and use adequate safety equipment
3) to attend a course of instruction in first aid
Warning symbols
The following warning symbols and signal words are used in these operating in-
structions to draw attention to hazards that may arise specifically when handling
the motors. The signal words describe the danger class. The hazard classifica-
tion informs about the consequences resulting from non-compliance with the
safety instructions. Beside the specified safety instructions, please observe the
general safety instructions of the project planning manual.
The safety notes in the following chapters describe certain danger classes. The
hazard classification informs about the consequences resulting from non-compli-
ance with the safety instructions (in accordance with ANSI Z535.6-2006)
