3. Operate the self-contained servo-hydraulic linear axis in a defined
mode, e.g. rapid traverse, and make sure that the functional valves re‐
main in this switching state, even in the case of an emergency stop.
This can be effected, for example, by ensuring that process data can be
provided for the "rapid traverse" mode. This prevents a switchover in the
PFC software. Equally, the activation of the valves for rapid traverse has
be ensured via firmly energized valve connectors.

The escalation has to be checked with only one safety valve each in or‐
der to determine worst-case values, i.e. one test each with valve A2.1
(safety valve 2) and with A2 (safety valve 1). The valve currently not re‐
quired has to be kept open, e.g. by activating the valve via a firmly ener‐
gized valve connector.
