4.3.1.1
Constructive measures for maintaining the ambient conditions
Ambient temperature
The listed permissible ambient temperatures apply to installation heights up to 1000 m above MSL. At
greater altitudes, the air pressure is lower, as is the thermal conductivity, which means that the heat
dissipation of the heat sinks also decreases.
The required ambient temperature respectively maximum usable power for greater installation altitudes
can be approximated in the following diagram:

NOTICE
Penetration of water and high humidity
If water or condensation penetrate, this may damage the control and power electronics.
Penetration of water into the compact system, card rack field, or system box must be avoided in
any case.
At higher humidity values (>70 %), constructive measures must be taken to prevent
condensation. Control cabinets with heaters are a possible solution. A control with thermostats
and hygrostats is recommended.

The ambient temperature may be lowered to counteract the reduction of the maximum available power at
high installation altitudes.
NOTICE
High temperatures
Temperatures that are too high may damage the control and power electronics.
Observe the specifications on the permissible temperature ranges of the individual systems and
components.
Observe the corresponding information in the operating instructions of the individual system
components.
When designing the system, observe the temperature limit values.
Ensure that the permissible temperature ranges are also maintained during operation (dissipation
of resulting lost heat).
