Tightening result IDs and storage locations can be provided by various participants on the Ethernet. For
example, the ID codes can be received by the partner controller, but the tightening results can be sent to
a central data server.
6.2.1.3
Exchanged data
Tightening results, which are supposed to be transferred via FTP, are summarized in a file. Tightening
results are output for each tightening process or application and tightening channel. Thus, a specific ID
for the tightening results is necessary, in order to be able to reassign archived tightening results at a later
stage, for example. The tightening system enables the identification of each tightening result record with
an ID code provided by the partner controller.
After the tightening process has been completed, the tightening results are transferred via FTP from the
tightening system (in this case the FTP client) to the partner controller (in this case the FTP server).
6.2.1.4
Data transfer/data buffer
Tightening results transfer can be integrated into the tightening process in various ways: before process
end (CyCmp) and after process end (CyCmp) (see also Figure
Data transfer before sequence end
Transfer of tightening results via FTP is done during the tightening process (before the
CyCmp
signal).
Consequently, the results are available on the FTP server at the end of the process.
Data transfer after process end
Before the process end (CyCmp), the tightening results are stored on an internal KE mass storage and
transferred via FTP in accordance with connection availability and independent of the tightening process
(asynchronous). With asynchronous data transfer, the tightening system is ready for operation, even if the
Ethernet connection has been disrupted.
In version 2.1 and below, the results output is not necessarily completed after a process end for single-
channel tightening.
In this operating mode, the tightening results data are not available on the FTP server once the sequence
has ended.
A CF350 memory module (compact flash card) is required for this type of data transfer with the Tightening
System 350.
The times required for writing and reading on the CF350 memory module will increase, if the data volume
on the memory module increases. Ageing of the memory module and fragmentation of the file system can
result in a slower access as well.
