7.0 User Interface Operation
7.1 Introduction
A standard or Auto Volume user interface can be installed in a
zone to provide the user with source selection and volume
controls.
The keypads on the two user interfaces differ only by the lower
right key:
The standard keypad has a Mute key
, and the
Auto Volume keypad has an Auto Volume on/off key
.
Programmer’s Note:
When the E-4 hardware is in
STANDBY, pressing any key on either keypad will switch
the system on.
7.2 Standard user interface operation
• Press

to select the audio source assigned to
that line. A green LED indicates the active source.
• Press the
Volume

button to increase or
decrease the volume in 2 dB steps. Press and hold for continu-
ous increase/decrease. The red LED lights when either button
is pressed.
• The maximum/minimum volume setting is determined by the
min./max. level stop settings in the Output Gain control pane.
• Press the
Mute
button to silence the listening area. When
the area is muted, a yellow LED flashes. Press again to restore
the volume.
7.3 Auto Volume interface operation
• Press

again, press the

button.
• When you turn Auto Volume off using the wall plate, the system
remembers the volume level setting at the time you turned it
off. The volume level returns to that level when Auto Volume is
turned on again.
