Anchoring
This boat is eq uipped with a windlass, anch or, rode and
an anch or roller davit. S tow the anch or in the davit when
not in use.
NOTE : B efore using the anch or, be sure the safety hook
is removed and the anch or is sec ured to the windlass
ch ain.
To anch or, bring the bow into the wind or cu rrent and put
the engines in neutral. When the vessel co mes to a stop,
lower the anch or from the bow.
Considerations:
Wind and sea co nditions ca n affect the boat.
B eca use the boat is not moving through the water,
there is no co ntrol.
B e sure that the anch or will hold under all
ci rcu mstance s if you are leaving the boat.
nderstand the principles of rode and scope and
their effect on anch or performance .
P roper anch oring req uires kn owledge of ROD E and
S COP E and understanding the relationship between
rode, scope and anchor performance. nder normal
co nditions, the ratio is 7 to 1 ( deploy seven feet of rode
for every one foot of depth) .
L owering the Anchor
B e sure there is adeq uate rode.
S ecu re rode to both the anch or and the boat.
S top the boat co mpletely before lowering the anc hor.
K eep feet cl ear of lines.
Turn on the anch or light when at anch or or drifting
( not under power) at night or in low visibility.
NOTE : If using the windlass, refer to the windlass
operator’ s manual for anch oring instruct ions.
