Section 4
The water heater is eq uipped with a temperature and
pressure relief valve that co mplies with the standard for
Relief V alves & Automatic Gas S hut off D evice s for H ot
Water S ystems, ANS I Z 2 1 .2 2
H ydrogen gas may form in the tank if the system has not
been used for more than two week s. D O NOT smoke or
have any ame near an open faucet.
Maintenance
Inspect water heater co nnect ions regularly. Acce
ss to
the water heater is through the backr
est panel under the
bunk cu shions.
M anually operate the pressure relief valve at least once
a year. This must be done when the water in the storage
tank is co ol.
F lush the system several times per year to prolong
the life of the system. There may be times that you will
notice an odor co ming from the water system. There
is a protec tive cl adding in the tank that protect s it from
co rrosion. The elect ro-galvanic act ion of the cl adding
material releases hydrogen from the water. If sulfur or
any of its co mbinations are present in the water the
two will combine and produce hydrogen sulfide. This
co mpound will produce a “ Rotten E gg Odor.” H ydrogen
sulfide can also be present in your freshwater supply. It
is the produc t of the deca y of animal matter and as little
as 1 mg/ liter ca n ca use a perce ptible odor.
H ydrogen gas might form in the tank if the system
has not b een used for more than two weeks.
O NOT smoke or have any ame near an open
faucet.
