Bot’n Roll ONE A User Assembling Manual
3.
BATTERY
Put the battery to charge before you start the robot assembly. This way the battery will be ready to use
when you fnish building your robot!
The provided battery is a Ni-MH (nickel metal hydride), 12V rated voltage and 800mAh rated current.
3.1. CHARGING THE BATTERY
Maximum Voltage:
The battery is fully charged when its voltage stands between 14,5V and 15V.
Minimum Voltage:
The battery is considered discharged when its voltage its lower than 10V.
Charging Current:
The provided charger allows you to defne the battery charging current. It's
recomended a current equal or less than one-tenth of the rated current, for a battery of 800mAh the
charging current must be: 800 // 10 = 80mA.
Charging Time:
The charging tme is determined by the battery capacity multplied by a factor of 1.4 and
divided by the charging current: 800 x 1.4 // 80 = 14 hours. The battery must be disconnected from the
charger when it fnishes its charging process.
Fast Charge:
It’s possible to charge the battery with a current higher than the one above calculated, on
the other hand, this process may cause the battery to warm up and will decrease its lifetme.
Charging Cicles:
You should avoid charging the battery for a few minutes or even a couple of hours, this
way you are shortening its capacity and its lifetme. Respectng the charging and discharging cicles
extends its longevity.
Polarity:
Verify if you connect the charger with the correct polarity (“+” “-“)!
3.2. HANDLING THE BATTERY
In order to avoid short circuits in your battery, make sure the battery cable is properly attached to the
robot before you plug the battery connector.
Never short circuit the battery terminals! This will destroy the battery and may even start a fre.
