4.2.7. INTEGRATED CIRCUIT SOCKETS
The sockets for integrated circuits allow easy replacement of the
integrated circuits in case they are damaged. Never solder
integrated circuits directly on the PCB!
There are two sockets to insert the ATmega328 and
PIC18F45K22 integrated circuits. These sockets have 28
and 40 pins respectvely.
Each socket has a slot at one end that should match the
serigraphy on the board. The placement of the sockets
must respect these slots because they are very
important in insertng the integrated circuits. The
integrated circuits also have that slot.
If you insert an
integrated circuit in the wrong orientaton, you will
damage it permanently!
The sockets must be soldered on
U1
and
U2
.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The ATmega328 and PIC18F45K22 integrated circuits will be inserted later in the
sockets. Should only be inserted in step 3.3.4 afer wiring the board.
