ACCULAN reamer GA 613
10. Instructions for use of battery GA 626
The battery GA 626 is a powerful battery with integrated electronics
and power source. Owing to its special design and the computer-con-
trolled charger, the battery has a long life if it is properly treated.
IMPORTANT
Avoid heating the battery to temperatures above 65 °C. Heating
above this temperature causes the battery capacity to decrease and
prolonged exposure to this temperature destroys the battery.
IMPORTANT
Avoid short-circuiting the battery. If the poles of the battery (top
or bottom) are short-circuited by liquids or metal parts, a very high
current (roughly comparable with that of a car battery) flows. The
battery may therefore heat up to a very great extent and also dam-
age adjacent objects through the action of heat (there is also a dan-
ger of fire).
We therefore advise the following handling in your own interest and
the interest of your ACCULAN system:
• Always store the battery at room temperature.
• Do not sterilize or disinfect the battery (overheating, danger of
short-circuit.)
Owing to the complete encapsulation of the battery in the ma-
chine, there is absolutely no risk of contamination of the operation
site by the battery. Disinfection or sterilization is therefore not
necessary.
• Always keep the battery dry.
• Never immerse the battery in liquid.
• Never place the battery on a moist surface.
• Before you place the battery in the charger, ensure that the inside
of the charging shaft is dry. If this is not the case, dry it with a
cloth.
• Do not store or use the charger and battery in the vicinity of work-
places where large quantities of liquid are handled (instrument
cleaning, transfer of wash liquid, etc.).
Protect from moisture
If you observe these measures, you will certainly be very pleased with
your ACCULAN system.
If you have any questions about the ACCULAN system, consult your
medical product adviser.
11. Troubleshooting list
Fault
Cause
Fault detection
Rectification
Motor runs too slowly
or has too low a torque
NiCd battery is too weak
NiCd-Akku is defective or flat
Change battery
Check charger, if necessary replace
battery
Motor does not run
If the ACCULAN reamer is used
infrequently and in addition the
applications are relatively brief, an
oxidation film may form on the
motor/battery connectors. This
oxidation film is an insulating
layer through which the low vol-
tage may not pass.
