NOTE:
Depth value indication in air is different from that of under the ground.
20 PINPOINT
• Only available in ALL METAL and GND BAL Mode (non-motion mode).
• Used to determine the exact position of the detected target object.
1. Press MENU and choose the ALL METAL Mode.
2. Press and hold the PINPOINT button. The Display will show "PP".
3. Slowly, move the search coil above ground. The detector sounds a beep tone and the depth will
be indicated on the display when a metal target is found.
4. Release the PINPOINT button. Sweep the search coil above the area you have just identified.
Keep the same distance to the ground. Keep the movement until the beep and depth indication
disappears.
5. Once again, press and hold the PINPOINT button and move the search coil closer to the sound
area. The detector sounds again. Repeat the above steps until the detector display the constant
signal where the location of the target is.
6. After you have found the target, choose DISC from the Menu to identify the type of metal.
21 ZAP (hide/eliminate an object from detection)
• Only available in DISC and NOTCH Mode (motion mode).
• Used to selectively filter out a metal type.
1. Target an unwanted metal object with the search coil.
2. The detector sounds a beep tone and shows the metal type on the display.
3. Then press ZAP. from now on, the detector will not respond to this known metal type during the
detection. To recover the swept target, immediatly press ZAP again, before any other metal is de-
tected.
4. 25¢, 50¢, and 1$ can’t be eliminated by ZAP.
5. ZAP can only ignore one target at a time. You have to recover any ignored target before you can
ZAP a new one.
6. To recover the ignored target:
• In DISC Mode: press + to recover the ignored target.
• In NOTCH Mode: press + or - to move the arrow to the ignored target, then press UP to remove it.
22 GND BAL (Ground balance)
• GND BAL is used to eliminate disturbances caused by mineralization and salinization in the soil.
1. Find an area without any metal objects.
2. Press MENU and then UP or DOWN to choose GND BAL. Set the GND BAL value to 50 by press-
ing + or -.
3. Lift the search coil waist high in the air.
4. Press PINPOINT several times.
5. Lower the search coil to the ground, maintaining it elevated about 1 to 1.5 cm above ground. If the
detector emits a beep sound, follow step 6. If the detector does not emit a sound, follow step 7.
6. If the detector emits sound, adjust GND BAL as follows: Lift the search coil waist high in the air. If
the detector does not emit a sound, adjust GND BAL as follows:• Lift the search coil waist high in
the air. Press PINPOINT several times. Move the search coil closer to the ground.
