General Instructions for Grass C

atche

rs

 WARNING

Disengage the electric clutch (PTO). Shut off the engine,

remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop before

attaching, adjusting, or disconnecting any part of the

collection system.
ALWAYS shut off the tractor, disengage the PTO, and allow

all moving parts to stop BEFORE disconnecting or clearing

the tube, or emptying the collector bags.
To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine, tractor and mower

free of grass, leaves, or excess grease. Do not stop or park

tractor over dry leaves, grass, or combustible materials.

Mowing with the Grass Collector

Always operate the riding mower with the throttle at full

speed.
If grass is long, slow the ground speed and cut half the width

of the mower to prevent blockage. Another method is to cut

once with the deck in a high setting and then cut again with

the deck in a low setting.

Do not open the cover with the mower engaged.

If a large amount of cut grass ejects from the bottom of the

deck, the tube may be  blocked or the bags may be full. Stop

the rider, disengage the PTO, stop the engine and then empty

grass collector or remove the blockage from the tube.

Before Operation

Remove all the sticks, stones, or other debris, which can get

caught or thrown by the mower blade.
For best results, mow when the grass is dry. Wet grass can

clump and block the mower and the grass collector.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN MOWING, make sure the bottom of

the mower and the bottom of the cover assembly are clear of

grass and debris.
For satisfactory grass collection, air circulation from the

mower deck, through the chute, and into the grass c

atche

r is

very important.
Make sure there are tight connections between the mower

deck, turbo housing, tubes, and the cover assembly.

Recommended Accessories

Use front counterweights when operating on slopes with a

rear attachment installed. For operation on slopes over 15%

(8.5°), two rear wheel weights can be added.

Remove the Grass Catcher

 WARNING

When operating without the grass catcher and catcher

boot / turbo, the mower deflector MUST be installed in the

down position and retained with the spring latch (see the

catcher boot / turbo kit Operator’s Manual).

1. Lift up the cover assembly (M, Figure 19). Remove and

the catcher bags (N).

2. Remove the catcher tube assembly (a) from the cover

assembly.

3. Remove the catcher boot / turbo from the mower deck.

Refer to the catcher boot / turbo kit Operator's Manual.

19

4. Remove the hair pins (K, Figure 20) from the cover hinge

pins (J). Remove the cover assembly (M).
